With reference to the application re- ceived from your firm on the 21st, ultimo, respecting the export of 2 Cases of Revolvers marked and Co which were consigned to your firm and stated to be intended for the 1st. Chinese Regiment commanded by Colonel Bower at Weihaiwei, I am directed to transmit for your information the enclosed copy of a telegram from General Dorward, dated the 23rd. instant, saying that Colonel Bower has no knowledge of the Revolvers in question and to ask if you will be good enough to state what you know regarding the consignment.
